2000xl effects board?

In order to filter, do you need the effects board?

The effects board isn't a filter . The only filter you can get internally on the 2000/XL is the low-pass filter in program mode . You'd need to get a standalone filter module for the other stuff . The akai mfc-42 is one, electrix filter bank is another . there's quite a few. If you search the forums for "filter" you'll get a ton of info on alot of different pieces, inculding the akai and elextrix ones I just mentioned . I just got the mfc-42, but I don't think I should give what opinion I have on it right now . I really feel like I hhaven't started to use it properly to understand what I can really do with it . But you'll get alot of opinions in the archives (some of which you should disregard, but you can figure that out).
