I recently got my MPC 2kXL, and the guy I got it from mentioned a "roll assist." I get it home and it will add an extra hit sometimes when I play the pads, I think when I keep the pad pressed for just a thousandth of a second too long. My question is: Is there a way to remove that? or does anyone else know what I am talking about? or am I just an idiot? I am pretty sure I am not double hitting the pad. I want to do my rolls myself. Please help me.

Sometimes when you hit a pad real lazy it'll play twice. I used to do that a fair bit when I first got the mpc... Just gotta get used to it and hit the pads quickly and cleanly.

What that guy was talking about is as follows; When a sequence is playing, hold the tap tempo button and the pad you want to 'roll' at the same time. This will sorta give you a drum roll effect that corresponds in speed to the quantize/tc setting of the track (eg. 1/8, 1/16, 1/16(3), 1/32 etc - 1/8 will give you a slower roll than 1/16)

yeah, i was afraid of that. I have developed my playing style on a drum machine, and moved up to an MPC for the idea of playing a drum machine with infinite sound possibilities. I guess it will force me to tighten my skills, so it aint all bad! Thanks for the help, WDJ.
