tracking my midi and audio into sonar4

whats the easiest or best way to track my midi and audio into sonar or any software sequencer. is it possible to record more than one track at a time with the m-audio 2496? i wanna put all my drums, synths, snares, ect. on differnt tracks for better mastering but i'm confused on how to do it. this is my setup below

mpc2000xl (no 8 outs)
triton studio
micro korg
motu microlite midi router
m-audio 2496
roland mc-307
sonar4
waves gold bundle

I have a similar setup - except I'm using an M-Audio Delta 1010 w/ breakout box. I'm also wondering the same type of thing, except that I'll be using the 1000 instead.
As far as I know about having seperate tracks, you can import two at a time with the stereo outs panning 1 track hard left and the 2nd track hard right. But some people think the sound is better as a whole without spliting the audio tracks.

without the 8 outs on the mpc2000xl, you won't be able to do multiple outs into sonar unless you separate the stereo into left/right tracks

the 1000 is a piece of cake to track with. as far as inporting two at a time.... you actually have 3 stereo pair outs on the 1000. the 4 assignable outs are actually the 2 stereo pair plus the main outs.

there is no difference in sound. you track your mpc outs into sonar (or whatever soft seq you are using) and send to stereo outs from there, not the mpc. this is how it's done. to do it with the 1000, the outs are on a pad by pad basis, not track by track basis. you can have your kicks and snare on 1 (mpc) track but when you track to software you assign the kick pad to an out and snare pad to a different out

and no the digital out on the 1000 can not be used as a 5th or 7th out
