using a midi keyboard with thw mpc2000

right, this is probably a really stupid question but is it possible to connect a midi keyboard to the mpc2000 so that i can play a sample from the mpc on the keyboard? (ie. assign a single note of a piano sample to every key on the keyboard to get all the notes....does that make sense?!) how would i go about doing this?

Midi out on the keyboard to midi in on the mpc.The rest is in the manual as far as how to sync.

I hate to sound like an ass but,you do know what Mpc stands for right?

sorry probably didn't word that like i should, yeah i know what mpc stands for i only asked as i don't have the manual so wasn't sure what to do as far as syncing it all up..i've posted a thread asking for a copy of the manual so i don't need to bother anyone on here with more dumb questions!

yea you can hook a keyboard to it via MIDI. but with the mpc 2000, i dont think you can spread a sample across the keys to play them at different notes....unless im wrong, you wont be able to do this. you can use the 16 level on the mpc and do it that way, but spreading them across the keys you cant do (at least i dont think you can )

maybe one of the other models allows that?

nah, can't do that on the classic. I wish there was an upgrade for it...

damn, thanks for letting me know...yeah i've been using the 16 levels but it doesn't really give me enough to work with compared to a full keyboard

i know how you feel. i talked to emfinite and he recommended a radium 49. he said you can spread samples across the keys with that.. not sure if you can, but maybe try a midi controller? i really dont know how those work though...

hey no problem!

the mpc is a sequencer with a sound module built in. my prefered method is using the keyboard as a controller for the mpc. how the hell can you play keyboard parts on a matrix of rubber pads?

keyboard MIDI out to MIDI in on the mpc
keyboard MIDI in tho MIDI out on the mpc

turn local OFF on the keyboard

now call up a sequence, dial in a track that either uses a sound in the mpc or the MIDI out port the keybaord is on. use program change to select the sound you want. you'll be able to play internal sounds on mpc as well as sound of the keyboard...from the keyboard.

i feel the rest, but how is the mpc a sound module? mind didnt come with sounds. i wish it did
