Help a newbie out :(

Hey guys, I'm a new MPC-er

Actually my cousin decided to give me all his equipments since he's gonna move to Japan next month and he can't bring them all with him. Right now I have his MPC 3000 LE, Motif ES 7, E-MU Mo'Phatt, EMU Proteus 2000, Korg TR-Rack, EMU Orbit, EMU Planet Phatt, and a Roland JV-1080. I'd really like to get into producing some beats and such.

My problem is I can't hook up the midi correctly so that everything would sync to the MPC3000LE. Initially, I want to get sounds for the Motif keyboard and such. I believe I connected the MIDI cables correctly. The only thing seems confusing to me right now is I cannot change the setting of MIDI routing inside the MPC3000LE so that it would be able to receive sounds from other modules.

I don't have any of the manuals. I've read up the site and did a couple search querries but I'm still lost to be honest.

So please, can somebody kindly walk me through this set-up? I would really appreciate it.

aight, I have read Chapter 10 and Chapter 11 of the MPC3000's manual (regarding midi connection). I also hooked everything up as shown in the picture below:



of course I have hooked up all the stereo outputs to my mixer inputs as well..

Now my problem is when I load up a kit from SCSI zip drive, I cannot hear the .SND sounds through my monitors (I CAN, however, hear the sounds through headphone).

Another problem is when I selected the Synths, I can only hear the sounds coming out from the Motif ES but not other synthesizers.

What am I doing wrong? Sorry for asking so much but I've tried many ways to sync all those gears but it's still not working out for me. Can anybody give me a hint to get this resolved? Thanks, guys

did you connect the MPC 3000's main audio outs to your mixer ?

To BBoy2005: Yup, dude been blessing me since day one And yes, MPC 3000's main audio outs are connected to my mixer.

Are your headphones hooked up to your mixer or your MPC? If your headphones are hooked to your mixer, than you got someting going on with your mixer that it's putting sound out to phones, but not your monitors. If its a DJ mixer, the headphones will have a different volume and pan than the main outs (to your monitors). Check to make sure the channel its on is recieving sound (the meter lights will be active).

Concerning the synth question, you may have to turn local off on the motif and assign the midi channels to the other synths. I'm familiar with Emu gear and in midi menu on the Emus you can turn each channel on and off independently. Not sure how many midi outs the motif has but you can assign ch.1-3 to mophatt, 4-6 to tr rack and so on. Hope this helps....
