teach a rookie how to sample here.

i just got my mpc bout a week ago and i got most of the basics down but i need some serious help learnin to sample. i been at it for hours. i been watchin vids of producers like boola or the heatmakers and in the vids they just have a sample playin while they add drums, bass, n all that n its done in like 20 min. I cant figure out how to get my sample to loop and stay on beat then after words find and match the tempo to add some dums n snares. Me n the manual have gotten real close these past couple days but it hasnt been able to help me wit this one. I was hopin maybe some of you vets could give me any advice, tips, complete proceders or whatever you can do to help me out. PLEASE oh and i forgot to say i have the MPC 1k

basically you have to "chop" your samples into smaller pieces. every new mpc user goes through this.

im not sure if the 1k has the chop feature. but in order for your samples and drums to sync you have to chop.

many new users try to snag a 20 sec loop or some shht like that. its hard to pull that off without running into syncing issues.

sit tight until some 1k users can chime in on this. someone will get you rolling in the right direction

thnx that helps. yea you can chop on the 1k. i have another question. say i had 1 sample that looped 1 bar but for my drums and snares i'd like that to loop at 2 bars. i tried changin the bar setting by like changin the track but it stays at 1.

One way would be to add a bar in the main screen and then play/record the sample pad for the second bar, or you can duplicate(copy) the bars in the sequence edit mode, to double the length of the loop/repeat the first bar of yer sequence.
