Prolific means "adequately fertile" and is usually meant to mean "productive"

I like Quincy Jones, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Teddy Riley......a lot of the old school cats is who I came up under. It's the versitility or there techniques. These men have the ability of longevity, because they understand the theory of music period. I on the otherhand don't know much about theory, but I do understand the concept. It helps to understand the concept of music theory even if you don't know how the cycle theory works, this is because you can merge from one style of music into another with the snap of a finger, because you understand chords and progressions that sends off certain emotions. For instance Quincy Jones have the ability to take a R&B song and jazz it up by using certain progressions that represents jazz, and then he can ease right over to making it sound like a horror show in a movie theater by changing only a few melodies and scale of the piece. Knowing theory gives a producer the ability to bounce from, Country to Jazz, to R&B to Classical.

Now when your a Hip Hop producer, knowing music theory makes you a God producer. Although hip hop is a music that was developed by the youth with very little music theory experience, Hip Hop producers never really truly cared about music theory simply because we didn't have the resources to develope this theory via school, training, college etc. So we made music from the heart by utilizing drum beats and samples, the music that feel good and this process worked for us, but those who were able to embelish and learn theory is one of the more prolific producers period. This is the reason why Teddy Riley can go from Hip Hop to R&B Back to Hip Hop as well as a few of our new Hip Hop Producers via Scoot Storch, Jazzy Pha and more.
