I have the MPC 2000XL

There's just one thing I can't figure out about saving beats. I did a search but all that's come up is the same thing saying you about how you save programs and sequences.

But how do you go about saving the actual song? Basically I have a card reader installed on my MPC but can't figure out how to get the beats in mp3 format on my PC. I know it will only save WAV but that's fine coz I can just convert it when it's on my computer.

All the options seem to be to save small files that enable you to load up your work next time on the MPC... but how do I go about exporting?

Just can't figure this 1 out... only thing I can think of is that there's maybe a program designed to read the MPC files on the computer and you can save from that

Sorry, but can you elaborate? That thread is about burning to a CD...

do you mean I have to hook up my MPC to my PC and you can't save it directly from the MPC?

Cheers for the info...

So do most people with the XL just connect to their PC then record from there?

or a cd burner, tape machine, minidisk recorder, etc.

Whoever said MPC2kxl can save a song as wave?
You've never read the manual have you?
Please find and download the manual and see what other
features and info you are missing out on. The more you read/know the less troubles you'll have in the future. :D

co0ocooo1 and B got the right ideas, follow that and you'll be golden.

I have read through the maunual quite a few times actually but it didn't say 'There is no way to save songs in wav format'. True, it didn't say it could but you never know if it has missed anything out - and I just presumed there would be a way to export it somehow.

Going a bit off topic, this is about the search function. It sucks. It lacks an important feature which is on most, which is 'search thread TITLES only' this would make all the difference and I'm sure you'd get a lot less threads where you have to reply 'use the search function' or 'read the manual' if the search function had this feature.

For example, if I wanted to find out how to connect an mpc to the computer, and I do the search "mpc + connecting + computer" you see how many results there are? "1 of 1035 pages" and how many of them in the list are relavant? Probably only a select few somewhere in the thousands of threads. Problem is the search is only for keywords mentioned in the entire threads instead of the titles, which means a high percentage of the results have absolutely nothing to do with what you're search for.

Just thought I'd make my comments on it...

Anyways thanks for the replies, my question has been answered.

you can save your samples as WAV, instead of SND but you cant record you beat internally like you can on the mpc1000, otherwise known as resampling.
