Pro's and Con's. Help me decide?

Ok, so I can't seem to make up my mind on whether to purchase the 4000 or the 2500.

MPC4000 -

PRO's
Aksys software
Large screen
High quality sampling
more ins and outs
80gig hardrive installed
CD reader/burner installed

CON's
big and heavy (transporting)
huge learning curve
Not good for live use
Very Expensive
Bugs (?)

MPC2500 -

PRO's
Smaller and lighter
Has functions the 4000 doesn't have
Cheaper
Faster and easier to get around on(?)

CON's
No Aksys software
less sampling quality
small screen
Looks toyish
No standard storage medium, must be purchased later
No CD burner, must be purchased after


Anything else I'm missing or wrong on?

id get the 2500 simply cos i couldnt afford the 4000 or at least wouldnt be prepared to splash out that much

if your worried about OS bugs i'd be A LOT more wearey of the 2500, its new machine, so its gonna OS bugs (coming from akai ).

Go with what works for you. Both are worlds apart as far as capability. If you want to use for Live usage go with the 2500. It you are working in a studio get the 4k as a midi control center and sampler it has way more capabilities than the 2500 especially when linked with other sequencers, modules, and etc.

Learning curves I think the 2500 with be easier and faster to learn if you used an 2000 or 2KXL before. The 4k is complex and advanced but work with Live 4 or Reason Power Guides and the terms and process with be broken down into simple to understand steps.

There isn't much of a price difference between a used mpc 4000 and a new 2500. Personally I would get the 4k.

I hate decisions like that were u always worry then have you made the right choice. I would prob go for the 4k, its worth the time to master it.

I would say 4k also.The learning curb is a little harder but it's a beast and it seems like it "outweighs" the 2500.The 25 seems a little thin to me as far as capability but that's just my opinion.Why not go with a used 4k and get some mods/racks?

yeah you can. Just make sure if you go ebay the seller is reliable.

When I got my MPC the pads were really worn out it had just been wel used, it wasnt a 4000 im just saying b careful.

Well, I'm going with the 4K and I got an amazing price on it. thanks for all the info and help!
