didnt have this problem with the first couple times i recorded from vinyl on my MPC2000XL, but this time i am. i sampled a sound, and when i press the pad its assigned to, it plays the whole thing start to finish, instead of stopping when i take my hand off. anyone know how to change this or why it happened?

one other quick thing. when you record a sample, and theres the screen that asks what you want to name it, and what note number/pad you want to assign it to, if you leave the note #/pad field on "OFF" how do you go back and assign it to a pad later?

couldnt seem to track this info down in the manual, but if i overlooked it, feel free to give me the page number, thanks.

their is two ways to go about doing this. If u want to controll the sample and have it stop when u let go u can

#1 shift 6 program. Drum1 params. Than turn your overlap to note off. If you want some release at the end of your sample fuk wit the decay field.

#2 turn your sample into a loop in the trim screen (shift 5) than your sample will loop untill you release the button. If you want some release at the end fuk wit the decay

You have to go into the params screen and assign it to a pad.I'm not sure how it's done on the xl but on the 2k you just Shift + 6 and then F2 (i think) to assign.

hi, big newbie alert.

Sorry about this, but how do you do this on the 1000? I went to where i thought it would be, MODE, [Program] (f3 Params) but i couldn't find anything there to do the job.

any thoughts?

To play a sample while the pad is held is 'note on'.
hilight program on main page
press window
hilight sample
press window
change 'one shot' to 'note on'
sample will play as long as pad is held
to assign samples,
hilight program
window
hilight sample
spin data wheel to find sample
remember to save samples you just recorded or they'll disappear on power off. this is for the 1000
