Phrase Sampling ON MPC2000

Hey
i tried looking for this
and did not find anything
post links if this has been talked about before
Can anyone give some tips
on sampling a whole 2 or 4 bar phrase
off a record into the MPC
I find it very hard to tap a pad with my sample
on it and get it to loop perfectly
with the metronome click

Is the only way to get it exact
to use math?
I hate math
do i have to count out the sample tempo
and then set the click to that tempo?

I find this alot easier to do in Pro tools
especially with drum breaks
that i build a song on top of

no mpc at all

However
i want to start making sample heavy tracks with
my MPC so i can have the 808 kicks right
there to tap along

You dig what im sayin
how do i get pro tools wave editing ease
out of my MPC?
Is there tips and tricks im missing

Yes, and is not as complicated as you might think... I know you mentioned hating maths, but i can assure you the MPC manual is written in English ! No maths involved ! Another key to a good loop is your sample start point, use the trim screen for this. Basically you want a tight start. i.e right at the begining of the sample. 2bar samples should start at the begining of every 2 bars and 4 bar loops at the begining of every 4... then adjest the tempo either down or up to hit straight at the end of each loop. Hope that makes sense.

and that is how i have been doing it
but is this the only way to build a song off samples?

Use the tap tempo counting in to 4 or however beats you got it set and then adjust the seq tempo to fit the loop. If you are using a 2xl go to loop and parameter and adjust to the number of quarter note beats in the loop a 1bar =4 beats and 2bars=8 and the mpc will do the math for you and give you the bpm.

make your loop and then hit the "fit " button and then adjust tempo or bars in the params

there is a fit button on the 2000?
