SCSI Read Error need help

Just got my scsi zip100 drive i set it to scsi id 5 and i go to it on the mpc 2000 and press load it it says scsi read error....anybody know what the problem might be ...i appreciate any help

Welcome to the forum.

First and foremost use the search.There are tons of threads about this but since you're new i'm not gonna bust you.Make sure you have a scsi and not a parallel drive.Set the i.d. to 5 and set the termination switch to off.

i did a search and didnt find anything at least nothing answering my question, and i set it to 5 and the termination switch to off.

What side of the zip is it conected to?(on the back)

Is your mpc new?
Have you unplugged the zip while the mpc was on?Connecting and disconnecting the zip while the mp is on can blow the scsi fuse.

the left , i tried it from both sides though and the mpc doesnt recognize the zip

i never disconnect the scsi cables, but i do have to unplug the ac adapter at times when my zip bugs out. do you think thats bad?

dont you need to leave that on and plug a terminator into it?

i dont use scsi drives, so i dont know much about them, but i think you got to terminate that biatch.

Could be,i'm not 100% sure on that one but if you haven't had any problems yet i wouldn't chance it too much.

If the scsi zip is the only device/ last device in the chain connected to your scsi port then the terminator switch needs to be turned ON.

Sorry i said off.I meant on.It's been so long since i've actually seen the back of my zip,i sometimes forget the settings.

have you got a terminator pluged into it?

An external scsi zipdrive does not require a terminator plug since it has a terminator switch.
