How did you learn to master your equipment?

Well ive been reading the manual to my MPC and its easy to understand for the most part. Some things just confuse the hell outta me, so im wondering how u guys got better with things that confused or things you didnt techincally get?

How Did you learn thow to ride a bike????



Trial and error...

I just hit the buttons. I took my MPC apart a few days after I got it to look at the electronics of it. Then I started mimmick what I heard. easy beats 1st, just basic drums and little samples. Then I moved onto chopping and adding effects to make it sound different. Then using 3 or 4 records to make 1 beat. suummm it up its all pratice

still havent actually learned how to ride it yet. I'm waiting for the v 2.0 os before i try that...

Yeh like the others said practice. Also sites like this and http://www.soundonsound.com are pretty good. Just play with stuff and see what noise it makes and if you like it keep doing it!

my answer is to spend hours a day working on it and not quit until your eyes bug out from exhaustion.

my response is.... don't be afraid of it. if what you read in the manual confuses you, do it the way it says and listen to the results. once you do that try tweeking what the manual said to do and you'll get different results. unless you take a hammer or whatever and bang the shizz out of it, you're not going to break it. a lot of people feel intimidated by technology and things they don't understand. just know that you are not going to break it and (like i said ^^) don't be afraid.
