Just A Sample Question

Hey All! I'm new here, and I hope I posted in the right place. I have a sample of a phrase from a rock song. I've tried EQing but I do not know how to and I figure that just as you can not take out vocals that you can not take out the drum sounds from the sample. So I was wondering if any of you all the have similar samples use just work around the drum sounds that are already on the sample. Also I was wondering you pitch up the sample in the MPC using the tune function, or use an external effects processor while you record. I have a KORG KP2, that raises the key but keeps the tempo.

I usually filter a bit on the mpc than play drums over the sample. if u got the sample matched perfectly with the drums u played then it will make your drums sound even better cause they will be layered

Thanks for the help, I saw how bad my grammar was and I was suprised someone replyed. When I tried to filter, I couldn't get out the snare and the sample started to sound muddy. I was listening to some songs Kanye used, where there was also a snare in the sample, and it seems like he put his own drums over it.

I filter to 80 in these cases then when I track out the beat I add some more highs in their. Kanye is a pro and he's been doing it for some time now. Just keep experimenting and u will find out what works best for u

Is that the low pass or high pass filter in the MPC, or is it the 4 band EQ?
