I just recently picked up an mpc 4000.

my problem accurs when I turn on the mpc and load up the demo song.
or some sounds...

when I hit main. and then play. i hear no sound. volume is turned up.
I hit pads. even in pad asighn. no sounds. it dosn't look like things are muted...cause a pad goes dark (on screen) when it's muted.

I was thinkin the mpc 4000 needed speakers but the manual says nothing about speaker hook ups. so i'm geussing you dont need speakers.
just the machine or head phones.

when i insert head phones...same thing. no sound.

i'm lossed to what's causing this. this is my major problem.
once i get the sound going. i can start my journy.
but the manual says nothing about my problem.

i allways thought the sound would be going off right when i started.

all i'm using is the mpc power cord into the wall.
power on. no sound.

please help me. thanx.

There are no internal speakers....you'lll need headphones at the minimum. You also need to create a keygroup and a program and assign the pads....but first you'll need to read and understand the manual.....

refer to helmet application instructions.

oh, and don't leave the house.

see that knob next to the headphone input on the front? thats the volume knob, turn it up. there are outs on the back of the mpc (1/4") run those to your amp which powers your speakers. I used my home stereo system until i had the $$$ for monitors. familiarize yourself with the in/out possibilities with the 4000.

Hang in there dawg, it'll get easier.

There is also the full level button next to the 16 pads, make sure that is on.

Read and re-read the manual. And then read it again.

I think you really need to sit down with the manual. It sounds like this is your first mpc.So..............

1.The mpc has no internal speakers.(you need monitors/headphones)
2.There are no preloaded sounds.(you have to load and then assign sounds)
3.The Manual is your friend.
4.The Manual is your friend.
5.The Manual is your friend.
