Chopping Samples

How do yall chop ur samples on the mpc... chop it right off the record or sample the whole song on ur mpc and then chop it?

just sample the parts that you like and want to work with.

sometimes i chop by recording the whole sample, making 3 or 4copies of the sample or how many chops i want, then play them out on the 2000, real talk.

yup just sample the parts you want and then fine tune it when your done..........

I just sample 10s to 30s of the track containing parts I want and then proceed to chopping it up in 4, 8, or 16 pads on the MPC 1000. Chopping into small pieces work so much better than a whole sampled loop, you can flip the sounds in anyway your mind allows.

yup i agree... i usually do all my choppin' in soundforge, then throw it back on the 1k and start playin' around... but i'm definitely gonna try this method (choppin' up samples using the 1k only) tonight... even though i'm more comfortable using soundforge, i personally think that i should still be able to do this on my 1k with ease... thanks for droppin' some knowledge...

since i dont got that auto zone crap, i gotta do it myself. so, IF I sample into the mpc, ill only do the parts i want like the other guys said

The downside I have when manually chopping in the MPC 1000 is when chopping sometimes the samples don't fall in place and sounds overlay. You have to watch the starting and ending time when trimming. I don't think MPC 2000XL users have that problem since it has the zoning feature.

I don't think a whole song would fit in the MPCs memory (unless it's short)
