Roland XP-60 & MPC 2000XL

I read through the forums and found nothing on this. I'm trying to record different sounds from my Roland XP-60 to the mpc2000xl. When I record track 1 (snare drums)on the mpc as a midi track and then (piano) on track 2, the snare on track 1 turns to a piano sound. How can I keep my snare sound and piano sound seperated?

Basically after I record the first track, and I scroll through my keyboard for different sounds for the next track to record, the first track turns into whatever sound I stop at after scrolling.

you have probably entered a programchange at the begining of the track.
delete it or change it to the program you wanna use.

I never created a program. I did not load sounds from disk or sample sounds from keyboard. I'm scrictly using midi from keyboard.

the XP has to be in performance mode, thats rolands multi timbral mode

When I go into perform mode on the roland, and change the Pgm numbers on the main screen of the MPC2kxl the sounds change on the roland which I just learned. The sound still changes when I get ready to pick a new sound for the next track. The first track will not stay as is.
