Mpc2000xl and MIDI

I'm having a issue with MIDI. I've owned this thing for about a year now and i've never used midi on my synth. Today i decided to buy another synth and now i've got them hooked up. I've worked with it befor, so i know they're hooked up correctly, but when i play on the pads, alot of them jump between pitches/octabes. I.e. Pad 15 will be a B note, and theen Pad 16 will be a octave higher at G or something. It's weird, i was wondering if this is just a setting and how i turn it off.

the default note assingments on the 2kxl are not in order.

Nothing is wrong with you, it's your mpc, it's standard like that.

It's actually doing what it was made to do. You'll have to download
or make a template that has all the notes in order.

do a search for something like "blank and pgm" and you might find it.

You should save a blank program after doing this and put it on your cxomputer for use with the MPC editor, as it sticks with the default layout of the MPC and any programs you load into your chromatic machine will be in a different order, so Load the chromatic program into the editor before you start laying out your samples."

Save this to a blank APS file. On your MPC set that APS file to autoload. Booyah! everytime you turn on the mpc, t his will autoload and youre good.

Thanks for the reply guys, but still no idea on how to do it. Those instructions are a little vague. I don't have a "midi" key.

Oops, those instructions were for a mpc60. My bad.

Go into your program menu. SHIFT PROGRAM

Then one at a time, change the pads to the above settings. Make sure you have no samples in memory when you do this. Save to floppy/zip/whatever you save to. Save the APS file, name it whatever you want.

Then, everytime you turn on the MPC, load up that APS file before you start a beat.

Simple.
