What do I need to sample from PC to MPC 1000

I thought I just needed the USB cable. I got that, but my PC doesn't seem to recognize it. When I proceed with the sampling process I don't get anything when I attempt to play it back.

I'm new to this and didn't see the exact topic in the forums so be easy.

usb is just for drag and dropping sounds into your mp i think i dont own a mp w/ usb....if your tryin to sample u need an audio cable going from your computer out to your mp in

The USB cable is only for file tranfers between the PC and the MPC's CF card or optional hard drive.

What you need to do in order to sample directly from your PC to your MPC is to hook up an audio cable from your PC's soundcard outputs to your MPC's audio inputs. Depending on what you have for a soundcard, you may need a specific cable (if your soundcard has 1/8" minijacks) to go into the MPC's 1/4" audio inputs.

The RCA connectors on your MPC are DIGITAL S/PDIF (Sony/Phillips Digital Interface), so you can't mix them with an analog signal. If your soundcard has an S/PDIF output, you can sample digitally, but a standard RCA cable wont be sufficient. You'd need a 75 ohm Coax cable if you want to go that route.

why would you even try to SAMPLE from the PC into the mpc? if you already have what you want on your computer, just chop it or cut it down to the legnth you want then convert it to wav and transfer that over to the mpc via the usb cable. then you can polish up (trim, slice, whatever) on the mpc.

if you don't have a program to manipulate samples on the computer, then you can use Audacity (a totally free and powerfull program for PC and MAC)
