Whats going on everybody? I Just got my student loans in and made some few purchases. Obviously im new at this but ive been playing the drums for a long long time and Ive had my eye on an mpc2000. Right now I have an Imac G5 and been mess’n around with reason ever since I got it, and was thinking about that M-audio trigger finger to program in my drums into reason and run reason as slave under protools. Anybody heard anything on the m-audio or am I just wasting my time and should just get an mpc? Also where can I get some good quality hip hop drum samples from no BS, and world sounds like Indian or Egyptian sounds. What keyboards do you think are the best. Trinity Vs Phantom8? Thanx

Ooh bad idea man student loans are a ****. You're gonna be paying those off while the people who worked every summer will be buying a new house and shit.

You can make music with either, an MPC is not necessary, but I messed with software for about a year and got bored and copped an MPC2000.

Records. Go to garage sales, thrift stores, swap meets, pawn shops, flea markets. This is called "digging". Get your self a nice used turntable, try to go for metal not plastic construction(a good brand is Pioneer), and also look for records while you're there, records are usually under $1 each at these places.

I dunno much about the Trinity, but I know prettymuch all of the Korg Triton sounds have been used before by hip hop producers, which will give your music a kind of 'dated' sound, but there are still cats out there flipping Triton sounds in new ways all the time, so its up to you. I have a Fantom, I haven't got to deep into learning it yet but I love the sounds it can make and theres lots of ways to load up sounds and tweak them. Peace

I did the samething wit my student loans and scholarships. lol.. A mpc is good but get whatever suits your needs.. Think about the setup that you want then go from there.. I don't kno much about software so i really can't help you wit that one.. And i don't mess wit the trigger finger either.. But whatever gear you get make sure that you shop around so you can get the better deal.... But it looks like you got your mind made up on what you want.. make sure that you learn to use the things you get...

dude, have your cheap thrills. I'll be with my 4000 and my wife, and yes they both are $$$$ consuming, but well worth it.
