Adise a Young'un...

Hey Yall,
Im a newbie to this beat makin thing. But i have a couple
of ideas here and there. I have been doing my homework
here and there and i decided to get me an Akai S950 plus an
SP 1200...What do you guys think? Is that a good idea or not...
I know it cud get a lil' expensive. Plus i wanna cop an MPC, but
i dont know which one to go for, the MPC 60II or MPC 2500...
WHICH ONE SHUD I GO FOR???????
Im lookin for a sampler/sequencer that has that
grimey/static/dirty/gritty sound. Do you guyz have
any ideas?

if your going to get a s950 and an sp1200 then i'd say it doesnt make too much difference which mpc you go for as you'll only need to use it for sequencing. in which case i'd go for a 1000 or a 2000 as they will be the cheapest buys.

maybe buy the sp1200 and see how you get along with that before you get anything else.

or go for a 1k and do the same.

The 950, SP1200 and MPC60 are vintage pieces and probably will command high prices due to their low bit rates (gritty sound). They also have limited sample memory and outdated memory storage. Don't get me wrong, they're good machines but do a little homework to see what features you need before spendin cash.

instrumentals(BEATS), so that you can only sample the voice...
If not, how is it done, and what machine can do that...

there isnt a machine, or program that can do that.
u'l just have to hunt for a capellas if you wanna work with other peoples vocal.
