cables and filtering samples to fit eachother

Okay I'm a noob.
And I got 2 questions, 1 is a noob Q an the other (i think) advanced (?)

1. So I got my MPC 60 MKI.
Now I see all inputs/outputs are of a different type than tulp
(those regular home-hifi stereo plugs, dunno what it's calles in english)
So what kind of plugs do I need? "jacks" ?
Are there different kind of jacks? Or just mono or stereo full-sized-jacks?
Were talking full jacks right? not the mini 3.5 ones.

2. I read this lil something awhile ago (dunno when or where or what exactly)
breaks down to this:

When you mix 2 samples (breaks whatever)
The low end or other freqs can fight eachother and together sound
awfull.
Someone had a tutorial on how to (using soundforge) layer the
2 samples, then analysing wich frequencies fight/overlap and
then cut out the disposable freqs in 1 or both samples,
making them fit better together.

Who can tell me more or tell me what this was all about, axactly.

1) im assuming you're talkin about 1/4" plugs (the fat ones). 1/8" plugs are the small ones like what you would find on a walkman. remember the sizes because you'll need to know them whenever you go looking for cables. correct me if im wrong but 1/4" are usually what you will need when dealing with this type of gear

2) they're probably talking about EQ'ing your samples before you use them. yea freq's can "clash" and sound bad on top of each other. eq your samples and cut the freq's that are overlapping i guess? EQ can do wonders with your samples and stuff.

I already figured out how these plugs are called,
"kilnke" in german, or 1/4" jacks.

I think I need the mono versions?

Yes you need the mono versions since the individual outs of the mpc 60 are unbalanced.
