MPC2000 recording question......

Whats up all...this is my first post.....my qustion is this....i just got a mpc2000 yesterday with no manual....i figured it out for the most part....but i was wondering,...can i record directly to an open track from my keyboard while i have my drums playing? also can you get pads to playback the sound the same way they do as the play x button in edit mode? and can you scale a sample across the pads in a bank? i hope someone knows what im saying......thanks for the help its much appreciated.

to play your other tracks while recording another one you just make sure the track says on:yes I think
play x is a parameter, you can set it to play whatever you want like before the selected, after the selected etc. this helps you edit
the sound will play however you have edited it. im guesing you are probably editing a loop so goto the loop scren and set it there and press cut to cut the sample down.
to scale a sample across the pads press the 16 levels button you choose which pad plays the original sample from pad 4 to pad 13 i think

why not jus connect your keyboard to the mpc via MIDI? So u can do your drums on the mpc and your melody on the keyboard. Thats what i do. By the way what kind of keyboard u have.

My Connections:
MPC MIDI OUT-Keyboard MIDI IN
Keyboard MIDI OUT-MPC MIDI IN

i have an e-mu x-board 49....i tried this....i cant figure out how to do it....i got my keyboard hooked up to my module ins and the module outs go to in 1 on the mpc.....i dont get it....how can i do this?.....how can i play a melody and record it to an open track while my drums are playing....kinda like multi tracking to say?.....please help thanks for your responses

Ok if u have the connections on your MPC change the track were it says DRUM to MIDI and set the channels. Hit me up on aim or yahoo i can help u better on there.

good lookin "M"......i figured it out pretty dope....but if i save the sequence and programs.... will the mpc be able to recall that program on the midi device? or will i have to do it manualy everytime i power up? thanks for all the help.....P

yes you just have to insert a program change event on the midi track that controls your midi device.

You should be able to save da sounds u used within in your keyboard. I know it can be done on the PK-6 which doesnt have an internal sequencer. What keyboard u have?

its just a controller nothin special.....it came with proteus x le soft synth....which im not wild for in the least....although some sounds are usable.....im more of a hardware type person.....
