SCSI error on ID#6 with 2000XL

using a ZIP100 SCSI drive on an MPC2000XL. terminated, and on ID 5 (on the back of the zip drive). when i access the load/save screen, it gives the error in the title of this thread. The manual lended no help with this problem.

If anyone could point me in the right direction or has experience with this error, any help would be mucho appreciated. Apologies if the answer is right in front of my face, i didnt find it in a search. -Aaron

Are you sure it's on SCSI 5? Thta's the only thing I can think of, cause your MPC is 6, so if it says SCSI error #6 or whatever, then it might think the drive is set to 6. Try flipping the switch.

on my zip drive, the termination switch is retarded. set on 5 or 6, the mpc recognizes it as ID 5 all the time.

hmmm im kinda stumped, i got the switches right, I've tried every possible combination of the switch and still no workie. does it sound like my scsi port could be bad somehow? i sure hope not. any known way of testing them? thanks for the help fellas, i know this troubleshooting shiat can get annoying, im just kinda a$$ed out at the moment.

Your SCSI fuse/chip is prolly shot. That sucks.

Sometimes I have trouble with my SCSI drive, I'll get an error sometimes unless I put the disk in and then quickly change screens to the load page from the main page before the drive boots up, this always works for me.

damn, thatd be fugged up! I'll hit them up and see what they say... i guess thats what i get for trying to be cheap and not just doing the memory card reader... thanks bro.

encino, im not optimistic, but I'll give it a try!

scsi acts funny sometimes try powering up MPC and drive with MPC first then drive and vice versa.....

this has fixed scsi issues for me on a number of BEAT MACHINES
