CD ROM DRIVE

What is the best/most practical CD drive to go for with the 2000XL
I want to load samples direct rather than through cd players and leads.
I have looked on the net and most CD drives are usb and I would need SCSI for the 2000XL right?

Pg 189, 2kxl manual. Mine at home is a plextor scsi cd rom. my hard drive i think is a plextor scsi also, can't remember exactly, haven't used either of them in a LONG time.

does it take ages to use? ive got a internal zip drive and it seems real sluggish

The speed will not be that fast but it should get the job done. I use a SCSI CD Drive with my MPC2k. I built my own and the drive i use is a Toshiba Toshiba XM-6201B. Works fine for me.

NOTE:When i say built my own i am referring to puttin in the SCSI ports and shit so i could put a drive in the case. Real easy to do.

I also wondered how to have my MPC in the "studio" in reality I have the MPC plus a computer with a couple of VSTi's I cant afford to get any hardware so I am more than happy with what ive got. would you suggest that I use the MPC as the slave? if so can I still use the onboard sequencer on the mpc to make beats and then the computer to do the rest?
or would that disable the sequencer?
