E-mu 1820M & Cubase syncing/tracking

I just got this setup & I have an MPC 1000. I've watched Sparq's video, which was helpful but I'm still having problems. I've also searched and can't find the answer. When I push play on Cubase it does infact start playing my tracks from the MP, but when I try to record it just plays. I'm sure it's just a simple setting or connection that is wrong and I'll probably kill myself after hearing the fix but can someone with this setup lend some advice. Much appreciated.

you have to select certain channel(s) for recording in cubase and 'arm' them.. else the record button will do nothing... iirc.

Do you mean the input routing? Right now I have only two tracks, the first one set for input one and the other for input two. I've messed around with the different options on the mixer strip and I've come up with nothing. I know I can't expect much from the LE version but I should at least be able to record...right? I have the midi sync setup correctly in the MPC and I've messed around with all the settings in the sync setup in Cubase. Could it be a setting in my software mixer for the interface? Maybe I don't have that routed correctly? I've been trying this all for a few days now and I'm getting nowhere. I've read the manual for the 1820m and cubase and there must be something that I'm just not getting. I just figured it out and of course feel retarded. My buses were wrong.My inputs were going to 1L & 1R in the back of the interface and I thought that would be line 1 & 2 in Cubase but it is 5 & 6 because 1 & @ are the dock/mic inputs...actually I think they're 1/2 & 3/4. Anyhoe thanks anyways.
