Eq'ing drums with a MPC

as of right now i use reason 3 and i'm always EQ'ing/Compressing my drums to tweak and give it the sound i'm looking for...my question is, how would this work with a mpc? is this wut a mixer is needed for?

the mpc has eq settings, though some dislike them. I think they are okay, but you can do better eqing when you mixdown to your final mix with a DAW or software (acid, cool edit, pro tools, etc...)
