i only decided to look into hardware samplers in the last 2 days and mpc1000 looks like the right choce for me and then i read into the hard drive installing etc. the question i have is:

when connected via usb to the pc can i drag wav files directly into the hard drive that would be installed on the mpc1000 ? (i think i would get the 80 gig one), or do i have to drag the samples to the CF card and then save to the hard drive ?

excuse my lack of knowledge but ive only been looking into this for a day or two.

what happens is you connect the mpc to the pc via usb and drag and drop the files directly into the HD.

this is assuming you're saving from the pc. i find that i VERY rarely do this - if i want to transfer sounds from the pc to mpc, i often just sample them off the pc via SPDIF

but yeah, you don't have to save from mem card to HD

what were you using before considering the mpc? sounds like you're about to make the move i did about a year and a half ago.

i sold a yamaha su700 last summer and although i found it limiting it was more creative than using software (the whole, load song in forge/crop/save/load kontakt/find sample/map thing is wayyyy to long for me, i just want to make quick samples that i can get creative with in seconds. also i think what i meant was can you drag samples straight from the HD to the PC ? (im guessing you can since it works the other way) :D
