What I need.

I have not got a MPC, but I plan to purchase one. I was just thinking, that leads me to buy so much more.

I was hoping to get one (Mp 1000 prolly) at a good price at eBay. I've got a Mbox. But that hasn't worked with my computer. My uncle is the manager of a instrument-shop so he sold it to me. I'mma probably return that piece of junk, and get some.. m-audio firewire? Is that a good thing?

Ok. If I do that. Then I have to get a turntable. And a mixer? My school has a broken turntable (with a needle you can scratch with) but my father's friend fixes turntables. I have a turntable, I stole from my great-grandmother (I didn't steal it, just wanna clear that out hahaha). But you can't scratch with that one, and I guess that turntable isn't good to get samples off.

I was thinking. With the bass, I want bass sounds. To I have to buy a f*cking keyboard for that? Or how do I get the bass? Fortunatly, I play the upright bass. But that couldn't work in EVERY song.

I have pro tools, but that hasn't worked. I downloaded Cubase, but that hasn't worked either. Maybe Reason?

Then there are a couple of sound-stuff (drum cd's maybe) to get into the mpc. Or can you put stuff from the computer into the mpc?

1. Mpc.
2. M-Audio Firewire or some other firewire (whaddaya recommend?)
3. Turntable.
4. Mixer.
5. Keyboard?
6. Cubase? Reason?

Please help me. If I'm missing something, or I don't need it.

There are a lot of bass samples around, even free ones. And additionally you can sample your bass from records, resp. create bass lines from samples using low-pass filters.

So no, you don't necessarily need a keyboard.

Oh, and as for turntables, you could get a Numark PT-01 or similar if you just need to sample records. That can be plugged in directly to an MPC or PC if I'm not mistaken, so no need for a mixer for that.

If you want to scratch/juggle as well, that's another story.

So why isn't the table you already have good for sampling? It doesn't have to be direct drive or have slip mats etc. to sample records. All you need to do when you hear a sample you like pick up the needle and go back and get it.

reason is good for bass
you can use your standup for a lot, just flter it
you can do a lot with less, but reason is a huge module. very good stuff there.

I see. And you plug that one in the same way you do any other turntable? I have a Onkyo record player, which is a bit primitive, so that doesn't really matter?

Okay, Reason and bass samples. Kewl. I saw this guy take one bass sound and divide it in 16 parts, each in a diffrent pitch, at each pad. I'd have to learn that.

But that Numark looks fiiine. Good to not have to buy a mixer. I read though "High Quality Felt Slipmat allows for scratching". But I guess scratching isn't that fun if you can't chop it with a mixer.

i came across an old ass Casio keyboard the other night that a friend had just chillin. i'm gonna get a few sounds off of it, its got some wurlitzerish sounding stuff that i like.
