I keep hearing loads of nice samples and it is easy if I want to only have the bass parts I just use the filter, what happens when I want that trumpet part and there are drums over it?

You gotta filter it some other way and mask the drums by layering other shit over it, or go back and get the sample but try to equalize it better before you take it.

Find a quiet trumpet part.

If you try and filter out the drums, you will VERY likely filter out some horn freq's also, we've talked about this before robert.

yea you can filter it, but you will lose some quality in the horn like lamp said. if the horn sample is short enough, you can leave the drums how they are. your own drums should cover those up with no problem. the drums in the horn sample might also spice up your own if you place it right....i do it all the time.

b ut if you truly want those drums out, either filter it or find a horn that has no drums like someone said. you gotta listen to the WHOLE song sometimes. there's lots of extra stuff to sample throughout the song....

Filter is a option in the MPC right? Is it similar to EQ-ing?

yes. i dont think its similar. maybe in a way since its dealing with frequencies (right people?), but filtering on the mpc, at least on the 2000, has to do with cutting the high frequencies. the more you do it, the more low end you will hear.

The filters in the eb16 are elaborate enough to actually do any hard filtering imo. I had gotten use to the DEEP NICE filters on the asr10, when I got my 2kxl w/ eb16 I was highly disappointed in the filters.

Try wave editor software filtering or a hardware full fledged sampler.

yea i need to know about some good software that does that, too. guru has filters, but they suck imo. i hate them....
