Midi Patch Names

Why arent there any midi patch names available for any of the mpc series? or are there? midi patch names make producing fun... matching numbers and sounds is the worst when tryna make a track. Is there a solution for this?

when you use a software daw such as digital performer or protools to sequence midi keyboards & modules, you are able to select and save your sounds by name (midi patch names). every time you open that session your sounds will automaticaly come up on your modules. how do you go about using the mpc like this?

You give your projects/programs/sequences a name?

Or are you actually speaking of modules connected to the MPC? Then you can still only name your files on the MPC...they will usually contain the settings to control your sound module. I don't know of anything else that would be possible or necessary.

By settings I mean MIDI output, channel and program number. That should be sufficient to select the according sounds on your module.

Most modules have up to 8 banks of sounds. On the mpc you have to try every bank until you get the right one. I want to be able to save all of the info.. even the name of the sound right on the mpc, just like a DAW.

No, I don't use software for that, but I can imagine what you mean.

The MIDI info get saved with the project you're working on. I'm not sure where exactly these settings are saved (programs, sequences...), and it maybe differs from model to model. But that's the only way I can think of saving them. I think Akai doesn't include that, because there's probably a huge amount of different patches for all the modules available, that would have to be saved and also kept up to date in the MPC.

I can imagine it is a little cumbersome when you use a lot of MIDI modules. But at the time, you'd have to set it up manually each time.
