MPC1k--MIDI--KNOBS,SLIDER HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay i just got my midi keyboard, my question is.... im not 100% sure on this but just clear it up for me, as of now the MPC 1000 cannot do this??

Like lets say i wanna put Delay on Knob 1,Reverb on Knob 2,Attack on Knob 3, and so and so on. I understand it has something to to with "CC", but i have no idea what the hell that means or how it suppose to work.

I was messing with the whole thing, i went to STEP EDIT, and did INSERT "note" and i moved the knobs,the sliders, and the data would appear there, i could even control the number decrease/increase "0-127" from the MIDI keyboard, but it would have no effect on anything, maybe im doing something wrong????

i searched but didnt really find the answer im lookin for, i found helpfull information though!!!

If I understand it right, you want to tweak the fx of the MPC1000 via external gear ?

Bad news, I don't think it's possible...

pretty much like i want to know if you could control like the chorus,delay,flanger, etc. you know like you would with a sound module, but why cant you do this? does it have to do with MTC? MMC?

It doesn't have anything to do with MTC (Midi Time Code) or MMC (MIDI machine control - typically used for transport controls, not much else).

The 1K isn't set up to allow the FX or mixer to be controlled externally via MIDI. It would take firmware changes (i.e. OS changes) to make that possible, I believe.

my question is....... is there anything thats sends midi info? filter or pitch? maybe not effects but there got to be something besides like program changes and boring stuff.

ok so the knobs and sliders are useless with the 1k then? thats what im thinkin

you can use them with your soft synths........... maybe u could slide threw samples with them lika a korg wavetable synth? that would be cool. can you control velocity layers in the step edit screen? then u could. i mean will the numbers move like you said earlier?

There 2 small buttons called the DEC and INC. those control the sequences, i wonder if there is a way i could change it to control the tracks, now would be cool, or if i could somehow control some other function. also there is the L1,L2,L3 buttons, those are STOP,PLAY,PLAYSTART. sooooo since it does this im guessin theres a way so i could control more options on the mpc1k with the PCR-m80. anybody here a MIDI master??? help me out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im not a midi master but dec stands for decrement and inc stands for increment... these sound like transport controls like the white keys above the play/stop controls on mpc. l1 l2 l3 might be for loops u gotta read the manual; for that thing man!! oh i just now got wat ur asking..... look into changing the buttons to control diff. control change options in the manual. there should be 127 of them but some are dedicated to certain things.. i havent messed with this stuff in ages

i already read the manual and i understand it now, kinda. well better now..... im just messin with it and discovering mad things wit it, and i already now how to change the control change but it has no effect on anything, like delay shows up and i move it up and down, but the effect aint put on there, maybe im doin something wrong, ima figure it out though, back to the lab, and thanks for helping me out bro

you mean you got the nbumbers on the mpc delay to move with a external controller? and the sounds not changing?

yeah but it shows up as a MIDI message

have you tried the filters?

naw i just left it all alone since the knobs and sliders will only work with a sound module, when you use your 1k how do you spread out your keys. do you just put like -10,-9,-8, and so and so on, thats if you use a 1k

yeah, that's the essence, each increase of +1 corresponds to moving up one key (ie one semitone) on the piano-style keyboard
