how do you setup the mpc 2000xl to where you have to hold down the drum pad to complete the sound, instead tapping it once and playing the whole sound.

In the 2000 its in the PARAMS function in the Program window. The three choices are Poly, Mono and Note Off. Sounds like you got it set to Mono but you want Note Off.

thanks for the replys peoples. but i tried everything you guys said, putting it on note off and stuff, and even though i let go of the pad, it'll still hear the whole sound.
