guess i just dont get it....

Ok ive got a yamaha psr-gx76 hooked into my yamaha mg12/4 mixer along with my 2kxl. I can hear the audio from the keyboard and mpc at the same time, which is all good. The problem lies in the midi department in pretty sure. When i record keyboard sounds (from the keys) into the mpc its all good, they playback fine and the mpc plays the sounds correctly as ive recorded. But when i go to lay down a drum track, i play my pads on the mpc and i have the drums AND my keyboard sounds playing back at the same time in the same pad unto which i dont want. I just want to hear just drums when i press my pad not both. what am i doing wrong?


MPC midi in 1 > synth midi out
MPC midi out a > synth midi in

thats how i have it routed.

Well when u go to a new track make sure that is set at DRUM OFF and not MIDI. Do everything on a seperate track by the way. Does that help?

Ok lemmie try that. Yea i do have have everything on different tracks.

Ok it halfway worked now its the reverse of what i had said b4. instead of hearing synth keys when i touch a pad i hear drums from the mpc on my synth keys. How do i resolve that? And thanx miss coley cole

Your welcome.

Now if u are getting ready to record from your keyboard then lets say u have drums on track 1, snare on track 2, and a hi hat on track 3. Now u want to add an Bass sound from your keyboard then on track 4 change that to MIDI 1A or 1B depending on which one of those u have your MIDI cable connected to(a or b) Now u shouldnt hear the MPC drums on the keyboard. Also make sure program is set to OFF. Does that work or did i not explain it good enough?

Now if u do get it to work and then u try to add a second sound from your keyboard to track 5 and now your bass has changed then that lets u know your keyboard is not in multi mode. So make sure its setup to use more than one MIDI channel at a time.(refer to the MIDI settings for your keyboard in your manual)

Yea didnt work miss nicole. i still hear my mpc drums on my keyboard. sall good tho i appreciate the help. ill look online for my keyboard manual and see if that says anything. thanx

nope the book didnt really say anything too much helpful about midi either. it said a little but it seem helpful at all. i can still hear my mpc drums when i play a key on the board. very frustrating. so im guessing i should ivest in a better synth??

Do you have LOCAL CONTROL turned to OFF?

I appreciate all the help miss nicole but why are you the only one tryin to help me? The local control thing doesent seem to exist on my ish, so i think ill just be saving up for a fantom i guess.

you're supposed to hear drums on your keyboard.

when you have the track set to DRUM:OFF, you will hear only drums from the mpc and keyboard. the keyboard is just playing the mpc sounds. if you only want synth to play, change DRUM:OFF to MIDI:(channel)A. channel being the midi channel you're working on. so if you're working on channel one, MIDI:1a

that will cut off the mpc sounds for that track and only allow your synth sounds.

I tried that and i can still hear the samples on my keys that are on the mpc along with the synth. I have to play around the keys with the mpc samples just to record str8 synth keys or have no samples loaded on my mpc. which all in all defeats the purpose of haveing the mpc routed with my synth. I know the keyboard is a little sh!tty but damn man that blows. When I look up my psr along with the word multitimberal i get 0 results. So im guessing that has a major part of sucking. I guess that i will just look around for a decently priced MTimb synth.

Do you ever intend on playing sounds triggered by the mpc that are coming from the psr? If thats not your intentions then I'd do away with having the "MPC midi out a > synth midi in" connection. That's what's causing your delima. If you intend on using the psr as a controller, then the "MPC midi in 1 > synth midi out" connection should be the only midi connection hooked up. It's not neccessary to have the mpc to psr connection present. Only if you want to play the psr sounds from the mpc.

I guess that i do want the mpc as a controller. I just want to be able to play my synth ON my synth and it only play and record synth sounds. Thats all. When i disconnected the cable u said it didnt record anything. Id play what i want recorded but nothing plays back to me after the looping begins.
