file transfering

Hi there, I am wanting to transfer files to the MPC, the MPC has a zip drive built in, was thinking of transfering via either midi- os this possible? or getting a scsi card to link the two up. the cheapest would be midi is this possible ?

The cheapest/easiest solution is to get a usb zip drive you can connect to your computer.

USB zip drive or internal zip drive for your PC.

thats a good idea, was just wondering if for now I could transfer via USB, I used to transfer files that way from recycle to the s2000

The mpc2000/XL doesnt have USB on it. Also using an MIDI to USB device will be for transfering MIDI data/information not actual audio samples.

Well u need to transfer thoughs files by doing what we suggested above. If its an SEQ file, SND files,ect.. Put them on a zip using an USB zip drive or internal zip drive on your PC. Then load that into your MPC. Real simple. GO ahead and get started on it.

cheers, the only thing I am getting is that the PC dont recognise unformatted discs for it well that is the case for floppys anyhow with my other sampler., am I just not getting it or what? I tried last night loading some stuff on floppy to transfer to my other akai and the pc wont do it as the disc is not formated for a pc but for the akai sampler :S

format you zip disc on the pc your mpc should be able to read it. What os are you running?

got a cd rom drive today off flea bay. as I am thinking it would be nice to load CD ROMS directly into the MPC rather than off the PC and then into the MPC,. I take it that the MPC can read sample CD;s this way? it says in the manual that a cd rom can be fitted via scsi

I don´t know about the MPC 2000 but my S 2000 is pretty hard to please when it comes to CD Rom´s, it is very few models it likes to communicate with. But try it out if you got it. I´ve seen a site somewhere that sold CD Rom´s and stuff guaranteed to work with Akai samplers.
