Computer Vs. Standalone Hardware

Back in the late 70's through the 80's it was just the SP's, the Lin's and the Moogs but rarely software were used.

What are your thoughts as the beat productions has evolved into a more diverse way of using computers to make beats?? Are there some of you that decide to stick with hardware without using Live or any Steinberg products?? whats the pros and cons of either using standalone or computer based production?

this is what im in the process of learning now. after years of working with strickley hardware im ready to venture out A LITTLE . ive been using nuendo to record for a minute now but thats it until i came up on v station and bass station soft synth's (which are pretty dope) so im tryin to learn how to incorporate it with my hardware. i just copped a m audio axiom25 controller and it came with ableton live lite 4? (i have no clue what it is or what it really does. still sceptical on cpu beats) also i got a emu esi 2000 sampler on its way and ive been reading that it can be scsi'd to a computer
and used with reason n sh!t like that. im not really into computer beats but if it can enhance my hardware that wassup.
