mpc 2000xl to trigger s950

I find that when i hit the pads on the 2kxl to trigger drum sounds on the s950, the velocity is way off what say the internal samples on the mpc respond to the pads, is there a way to tweek this or just have max velocity at all time regardless of how hard I hit the pads, as its a bit off putting, also I need to hold the pad down to play the whole sound longer this way than using an internal mpc sample, is there a way to master this?
