mpc1000: touch a pad, play the whole sample. how to change?

hi guys, sorry for the bad english.

i just got an mpc1000. it's the most amazing thing i've ever bought.

i was just wondering... when i touch a pad, it plays the whole sample. how to set it so that when I touch the pad it plays only the beginning of the sound, and if keep it pressed it continues until the end of the sample (or until i release my finger)?

most likely the pad is set to 'one shot', have you tried setting the pad to 'note on'? if you don't know how to do that - RTM.

It's on MONO you want NOTE OFF

Simply press 'MODE' (it will start to flash) and then press pad 7 'PROGRAM' it will bring up the program screen. Press the pad (sample) you would like to change and it will bring it up on layer 1 on the program screen. Use your cursor to highlight the sample name and then press 'WINDOW' It will bring up a screen with four layers. use your scroll wheel to scroll over to 'NOTE ON' instead of 'ONE SHOT'
