Tips for connections

I thought about this a while back and it really came in handy when I was hooking everything up again.

When its comes to audio cables...
"Red is right and Left is white"

When it comes to MIDI cables, the flow goes like this from one machine to another...
"Out-In" "Out-In" "Out-In" until you complete the circle.
This is not the solution for every setup but it will help in a lot of situations.

If you're using two cables that are the same color, use a small piece of tape and wrap it around both ends of 1 of the cables so that you dont have to connect 1 cable at a time.

out of all the **** up experments and wire splicing i did when i was younger , i never thought of that.

For complicated setups use a "gel pen" which is kinda paint in a pen.....you can get 'em in white with a fine tip and actually write on the cable which is pretty cool.

which brand of cable do you guys prefer to use....Monster, Hosa, Radio shack for RCA's?

Do you think it really makes a big difference in the overall sound quality??

it makes a difference yes, but its up to you if you want to spend that much more money.

what would u recomend for durability. I hate replacing my 1/4inch jacks.

I dont own a pair but I guess these are fine. They are heavy duty

for rca's i use acoustic research cause they unscrew and are solderable
they got a weird plastic core tho so i usually redo em to some 2 conductor mic cable still pretty good tho without the mod.

For durability - hardwire your patchbay and route with short cables of good quality....

no doubt kollin....im gonna keep my eye open for that brand

PPS....Lose the RCA's if you can and go balanced...

yeah, I was told that 1/4's are warmer than RCA signals
