I thought about this a while back and it really came in handy when I was hooking everything up again.
When its comes to audio cables...
"Red is right and Left is white"
When it comes to MIDI cables, the flow goes like this from one machine to another...
"Out-In" "Out-In" "Out-In" until you complete the circle.
This is not the solution for every setup but it will help in a lot of situations.
If you're using two cables that are the same color, use a small piece of tape and wrap it around both ends of 1 of the cables so that you dont have to connect 1 cable at a time.
