Just bought the MPC 500, im wanting to use it to add effects to my live set in my band, e.g. i can hit play on it, play along to the click and there can be sirens and explosions and white noise and keys etc goin on aswell.

Thats my aim, but im a complete novice and was looking for advice on getting started and the best way to do things.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There's not really any right or wrong way to go about doing things. There's tons of info on this site, I would also check out the Tweakheadz website for general home recording/studio setup (MIDI explanations, sampling tips, computer integration, sequencing tips, etc.) As well, check out YouTube for beatmaking videos. Watch enough of them and you will see that most people have developed a type of workflow that works best for them, some of it will seem to make sense for your own style as well. You'll never run out of things to learn so just keep at it!
