I'm very new to the world of production & beat making, but I'm sure it's something that I wanna do... I've done quite a bit of research on the topic and from what I read, I definatly want to go the hardware route... I dont think using computer based programs would really hold my intrest as I dont really see clicking a computer screen to be fun. I'd much more prefer to be hands on with it... so I can kinda FEEL what I'm doing as I'm doing it. I want to start buying some of the equipment that I need... but I'm kinda stuck.
* I've been looking around at different MPC's, and I've spoken to about 2 dozen current MPC users... From the info that I gathered, I figure a 1000, 2000XL or a 2500 would be the best place to start. Does anybody have any further advice as to which MPC would be better for a beginner? I'm not even too sure what are some important features to look for. I try to read the "MPC Comparison" threads.... but once people start talking about BiRates, Sample Speed, Outputs and Pass Filters my head starts to spin.
I understand that you get what you pay for, and I definatly don't want to start out with half-a$$ed equipment... But I'm also not looking to blow my entire bank on my equipment either. I guess I'm looking for the best deal for my dollar.
I know an MPC isnt the only tool I'm going to need... so does anybody else have any input as to which additional equipment I need to get started? I'm not looking to build an entire studio in my bedroom anytime soon... I just need to figure out which equipment is nessecary to have, that way I can kinda prioritize myself and get what I REALLY NEED first.
At this point, ANY advice you can offer would be much appreciated. If you can think of anything that I should know before I get started, that I didn't ask... please put in your two cents... Thanks again.
