on my last leg....

ive own my mpc for about 4 months and ive read the tutorial and the ebook many times. ihavent made any progress. i have so many ideas and i know the basics of hiphop beats but so far its been futile. i am close to giving up and selling it but i know i can do it but im running out of patience. i have a real problem with absorbing knowledge thru reading is there any hands on way to learn. i really only know how to put the sounds on the pads. recording or anything else seems so impossible. the instructions ive read seem so alien. im really on my last leg with this mpc.

think, do you really want to produce or are you doing this for another reason.

The mpc is really simple...you gotta jus take the time and make some shitty ass beats. its the only way you'll learn what works. Mess around with options and explore. beat comes out garbage...**** it, get em on the next beat.

You really shouldn't give up man...it can be tricky to get around and learn how to use it, but it's far from impossible. You just need to figure out for yourself for what reasons you are doing this. Do you want to master the mpc to make good music, or do you for instance want to master the mpc to impress locals (or something in that catergory) Good music doesn't come for free...it take time, it's a process.

There's only a few concepts to get ahold of - The MPC's pretty much record MIDI data the same way a tape recorder records audio. Where are you getting hung up? What MPC are you using?
