MPC 2000 --> Cubase via MIDI....how do i do it??

I have a MPC 2000 going MIDI in/out thru the Edirol FA101 interface directly which then goes to my laptop with Cubase.

When I hook up the Korg Triton in this fashion, the cubase reads the midi signal. So why doesn't the MPC do the same thing?

Is there a setting on the MPC that I don't have set correctly? PLEASE HELP!
