Recommendations and advice

I apologize in advance if this has been covered (did a rough search, didn't find much).

I just started messing with making beats in Garageband and now it's an addiction. I have Logic on the way but I've been watching a lot of videos on Youtube with MPC's and now I want one. My issues are I still want to primarily use Logic to sequence etc. but want an MPC for sampling and drum kit type 'ish. Can you save each sample sequence separately (i.e. kicks' snares, record sample) so you can mix them in Logic? Or do you just make your beat in the MPC and then mix and EQ the whole thing once its in Logic or Pro Tools are whatever?

Also, being that I really only want the MPC for sampling and drum kits and not to build entire songs etc. which MPC would you recomend? I'm trying to choose between a 500 and 1000 but don't know what to look for and what features I need and want.

Kinda long winded and I'm sure this shit has been covered over and over but thanks for any help.

You can save anything anywhere.

For you to make an educated purchase, you should try and figure out what features you would like to incorporate into your workflow, no one can tell you this but yourself ya know. Figure that out, work within your pockets budget and go from there. Download the free manuals of those mpc's you are interested in. Read around this site.

I'm leaning towards the 500 based on price and the issue with the 1000's pads. But now my question is can the 500 slice and chop samples the same way that i've seen on Youtube with 1000's 2500's etc? It seems fairly simple on those to just put the sample in and designate how many regions and then make a new program where it assigns to pads for you. Is this how the 500 works or is the chopping and slicing limited on it?
