Hello everyone... I'm new to the game and looking for answers!
MPC question
500 or 1000? I currently make music in garageband with an m-audio midi keyboard. I have never used an MPC before, but the 1000 seems like a better choice for the extra money. (money is not an issue) - what do you think? will the 1000 be easier for me to use? would the 500 still allow me to do everything I want?
Midi controller
hate to sound like an idiot..but...can someone explain to me in really simple terms how it hooks up between the mpc and your keyboard - and what its function is? does your midi controller go into your mpc, as well as into your keyboard and acts like a bridge between them? im soo confused
Samples
1) If i want a sample off an actual record - how would I do this? how do I actually pull the sample off the record player onto my pc or mpc? what equipment?
2) Once I have the sample, is it quicker for me to chop it up on my pc/mac and then bring them in as .wav files? or can I do this on the mpc? i've read on the 500 it is more difficult but can be done.
Recording
So pro tools is the industry standard. I can make all the music on the mpc itself - drums, bassline, samples, etc... would I use pro tools mainly for vocals? compression? I understand the mpc is for making music, and pro tools is for recording it. The lines are just blurry for me.
What else do I need?

Keyboard (anything you recommend? I currently have an m-audio keystation 49e - I don't think this will cut it. or will it?)
Midi controller (heard the m-audio 410 is good, yes/no?)
studio monitors

yes, plenty of noob questions. If anyone has the time to answer I would really appreicate it. I understand most of the learning is done sitting hour after hour in front of the mpc, but I need to understand some basics first.
