im new to the mpc

i just got interested in the Mpc and bought the 2500 but it only came with a few samples in it...it has a place to put a cd/dvd but it also has an hard drive --which is best to use without spending some unnecessary money...there selling on e bay disk and there are selling cdz full of samples..you have any advice on what i should use that will get me started...or where i can go to get these samples..please help....

First i would delete the samples that came with the mpc (they're trash).

Second download this http://www.bashtownbeats.com/300Breaks.zip it has 300 breaks that you can use to sample from.

While that is downloading start reading the manual on how to TRIM samples and how to PROGRAM the pads.

When the breaks finishes downloading transfer them to your mpc via usb or right onto your compact flash card.

Listen to the breaks you downloaded and find some drums that sound good to you. Follow the direction in the manual to TRIM the samples and then assign them to pads using PROGRAM.

From there follow the directions in the manual to make a sequence. The best way to make a sequence is to assign each drum part a different track and build up the sequence part by part.

first off, i wish i had the ability to go out and by a 2500 just because i was interested, but thats neither here nor there.

like the above poster said, the samples it came with are trash. dont be a fool and fall for drum libraries or CD's, theyre ok sometimes but most people including myself would prefer chopping drum loops off old records (or new records). you might not understand what all that means but as you spend time reading through the manual and these forums, you'll get it.

the 300 breaks is a great place to get started on chopping drum breaks. im pretty sure the 2500 has the "chop shop" that auto chops a loop into one hits.

thanks--well the usb all i have to to is hook it up to my computer and mpc and it will automaticaly put the samples in my mpc-

nope, the MPC will show up as a drive on your computer, then you can drag and drop the .wav files into that drive, and then on your mpc load them and assign them to a pad or pgm. there are also programs for your computer where you can make .pgms (program files for your MPC) on your computer, it goes much faster than doing it on the MPC, theres a few different ones, someone will have to give you the link, i dont remember what theyre called
