MPC Sequencer Help. Please!!!

I am new the the MPC world and I was wondering if the MPC500 can record using just a microphone, or home made contact microphone to record live noise samples, and also if you can plug the MPC into a guitar or bass, or a guitar amp to record what is coming out of the amp? Please help if anyone knows!!!

i run homeade contact mics to my mpc 1k fine. usually thru some pedal fx first, but it works great. some noises are way easier to just make yourself than trying to twist a preexisting sample into what you want...
