Can you chop samples on a 500?

Or what? I looked for an answer in the owners manual (pdf form) but there seems to be so "slicing samples" section.

hit mode button then hit Trim.

slice in there.

there's no automatic splitter (which i think you may or maynot be talkin about) like the 1000 and the 2500.

you could use recycle for that(if u have a 500 alredy) and send the chops thru usb

yeah ive been breaking down my samples in acid 1st than record them into the pads its much easier to see everything

u should transfer those chops via usb instead of re-recording it thru the mpc inputs/ this way the sound doesnt lose quality because of sampling thru analog ins.

I know the screen on the MPC-500 is quite small, compared to the rest of the family...but can you still visually chop wavforms on the screen?

Since the 500 has a USB connection, can you use Reason 3.0 as a sound module using USB...or must you still use midi...and if the answer is midi...what is the usb connection for besides power

Only MIDI. The USB port is for connecting the MPC to a PC just like a card reader (not for power)
