ok i chop my samples up in sonar for right now cuz im still learning everything on the mpc.. but when i do import my samples into the mpc from the floppy disk.. the samples are shorter.. i have the mpc tempo set to the same as it is in sonar.. why is it doing this?

Untill you record notes onto the mpc track, the mpc's tempo doesn't really matter. I mean, when you are just hitting pads with different samples, without recording.
Maybe the floppy doesn't have enough space and somehow sample gets cut off...But it's very unlikely I suppose, cause then you couldn't copy the whole file.
Check if you are not playing these samples on pads that have adjusted Decay and/or Attack in the parameters screen.

also make sure the pads are not on NOTE OFF. and if you're still getting problems, trash sonar and pick up Adobe Audition :D
